The Author

” Gwen Jones Poe currently resides in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She grew up in New Mexico, received BS at NMSU and MS at UNM and studied to be a teacher. She moved to California, taught high school, owned two gymnastics centers, and raised a family in Pasadena.

The Poe family summer times always included travel to New Mexico. Gwen’s parents, Sam and Vera Jones, owned a rock shop in Bingham. On one of their outdoor adventure one early spring, Sam and Vera encountered three abandoned bobcat kittens so small they fit in Vera’s folded hands.

The kittens were about eight weeks old when the Poe family visited, and Gwen willingly adopted one. She named him Bingham because of his origin of birth. His third home was Pasadena, California.

Gwen had plenty of regulations to follow and a multitude of interested visitors. She took Bingham to retirement homes, schools, and community events.

The story of Bingham the Bobcat is biographical and very conservation oriented. The book is dedicated to the memory of Sam and Vera Jones.”
